Meet the caretakers and guides: The Oldham Family and the family's working cattle ranch: Double D Ranch.
The Wind River Wild Horse Sanctuary is located on the 900-acre, working cattle Double D Ranch, owned and operated by the Oldham Family. One of three BLM eco-sanctuaries for wild horses open for public tours, the Oldham family cares for 130 wild horses next to the Wind River Mountains’ rocky spine, east of Yellowstone National Park. Denise, husband Dwayne, and adult children Jared, Odessa, and Jess use horses daily to care for their cattle and sheep. The sanctuary honors their Native American culture and reverence of the horse.
